In training?

Sigh. I was unable, again, to run a race this past weekend, making it 6 races that I need to make up. In hindsight, this was a good thing, considering it was the first week back at school and I had a four day weekend! Thank you MLK, and no Friday classes. Ahhh, the life. My parents visited for my moms birthday, we went shopping, and I went out with some of my favorite people!

Above is my beautiful, and perfect roommate, Imani. Seriously, fifty shades of obsessed with her. She went with me to the gym the other night, and ran one lap, one-eigth of a mile, without stopping on the indoor track, and was SO EXCITED. At first I felt a little superior since I had just finished two miles. But then I started thinking about how big of a deal that really is. I used to be the last one in gym, literally, that’s not an exaggeration, and now my usual run is a total of three miles. So, if you don’t think you can run, or you’ll be too slow, or won’t go very far, that’s OKAY.

I love running. Seriously. I went for an evening jog Monday night, and I planned on running only about a mile and a half. However, it was absolutely perfect outside, and I felt GOOD. Running up the stairs around campus, wasn’t a chore, it made me feel STRONG. I hit a mile and a half and just kept running. I ran all over campus and up hills, and I was waving at people and smiling. It was just perfect. Runs like that only come once or twice a month for me. I wasn’t thinking about the run and I was just running. AH I just can’t even describe it. Everyone go for a run!

Okay, enough emotions, sheesh. I HAVE NEWS! I’m running a half-marathon!! The Rock N’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon, on March 24th! So I’m officially, “in training.” Doesn’t that make me sound so athletic? I’m not. I’m usually just doing things like this:ImageDuh.

My training plan is as follows:

ImageOf course things will be moved around if I miss a day, which I would never do I’m an ATHLETE, or if I have a 5K that day. So far I’ve done two 3 mile runs! (I didn’t start this plan till Tuesday, AKA, rest day.) For my first 3 miles I hobbled over to the gym and ran each mile hard, and fast, then would walk two laps and do the next one. My times were: 10:15, 10:36 and 10:43. Basically, ten minute miles! Basically I’m the fastest runner to ever run. BASICALLY. Seriously though this is such a huge accomplishment for me, I’m so slow. Then, this morning, I woke up at the ungodly hour of 9 A.M., uhm EW, SO early, and went for a more relaxed run around campus. It would have been relaxed if I didn’t feel like a baby horse being born. My legs were wobbly and it was like my first time using my legs, which I distinctly remember being exactly like this run- ridiculous. Oh well, I got the miles in and used a new running app- RunKeeper! It’s GPS is better than Nike and it tells me how far I’ve gone every five minutes.

After all of my runs I end up devouring my two favorite things:

Unreal Candy and,

PICKLES. My only love.

If you haven’t heard about Unreal Candy yet, watch this video and get addicted like me to help UNJUNK AMERICA!

So Lance  Armstrong was banned from ALL competition, literally all of them. He’s not allowed to run a marathon that’s funded by someone or something, I don’t know the specifics, but he can’t compete! My question is, is that maybe taking this thing a little too far? Like just let the dude run. I’m just saying.

Lastly, before I put you to sleep, I wanted to show y’all what I did tonight! I’m like SO college. My roommate and I were walking around campus taking pictures of trees, and our friends were painting in one of the quad, park areas and invited us to join. I got to splatter paint tonight! YAY!
